Everyone's favourite book

26
That's all I'm going to tell about. I could probably tell you what I did after I went home, and how I got sick and all, and what school I'm supposed to go to next fall, after I get out of here, but I don't feel like it. I really don't. That stuff doesn't interest me too much right now.
A lot of people, especially this one psychoanalyst guy they have here, keeps asking me if I'm going apply myself when I go back to school next September. It's such a stupid question, in my opinion. I mean how do you know what you're going to do till you
do it? The answer is, you don't. I think I am, but how do I know? I swear it's a stupid question.
D.B. isn't as bad as the rest of them, but he keeps asking me a lot of questions, too. He drove over last Saturday with this English babe that's in this new picture he's writing. She was pretty affected, but very good-looking. Anyway, one time when she went to the ladies' room way the hell down in the other wing D.B. asked me what I thought about all this stuff I just finished telling you about. I didn't know what the hell to say. If you want to know the truth, I don't know what I think about it. I'm sorry I told so many people about it. About all I know is, I sort of miss everybody I told about. Even old Stradlater and Ackley, for instance. I think I even miss that goddam Maurice. It's funny. Don't ever tell anybody anything. If you do, you start missing everybody.

Spinach in pastry with friends (V)

You need: flaky pastry, spinach leaves, feta cheese, Parmesan, pine nuts, chives, black pepper, different vegetables that you like, shallots, sunflower oil, olive oil, quick-cook couscous, linseeds, salt, 35 minutes of your time, empty stomach, power music and/or The Mighty Boosh series in the background (optional).

Put flaky pastry in a baking bowl and spread a bit of butter on top. Put it in the oven (220°C) for 5 minutes. While waiting, steam spinach leaves in their own juice, strain it, then put it on the pastry with feta cheese and maybe a bit of sour cream and pine nuts. Add black pepper and herbs (chives) if you wish. Put it back in the oven for approx. 10 minutes.

Tell your boyfriend not to come in the kitchen 'cause it's a surprise twice. (optional)

Chop different kinds of vegetables (courgettes, peppers, broccoli, green beans, shallots, aubergines...) and cook them for about 10 minutes, then put them in a frying pan with sunflower oil, salt, pepper, herbs and spices and leave it to fry until it starts to go slightly brown.

Make quick-cook couscous and add olive oil, linseeds, grated Parmesan and chopped shallots and salt. I also used a spoon of Bisto to give it a bit more taste.

Put it all on a plate, use a fork and a knife to eat, try not to make a mess.

Dober tek!

Segue...

I bought a new Segue handbag. Then, after 5 minutes, I went back and changed it for a different one. When I came home, I realised I actually did like the first one better and went back. To Italy. Don't judge me!

I was trying to figure out how to accessorize the 'new black' of this season that is grey and found out it goes well with elephants.

Birthday

I got these beautiful tiny ladies in yellow and red from my mum and dad, they like to look through the window and are very nice to other, uglier plants.

For my birthday, mum told me I can decorate my own cake. So I went to get the decorations and found food colors. FOOD COLORS!! ...and got confused about my age again.

Alek Wek

Alek Wek has been my favourite model for years. She's been on the runways since 1995, and still looks stunning. I remember watching the Oprah show where they were explaining how her family moved to Britain when she was only 14, from South Sudan where she was born and raised as part of the Dinka ethnic group, because of the civil war. A while after being discovered by a model scout at an open market in England, she moved to US. She's hot and skinny but sure being in Tina's Golden Eye video and Janet Jacksons video helped her becoming one of the most celebrated supermodels (she was named model of the year 1997 by MTV). There's a wild, elegant attractiveness and child's sweetness about her, that make her breathtaking. And not just that, she's talented as well! In 2006 she launched got her own line of handbags Wek1933 and she published autobiography book about her nomadic childhood.

Films

Three good films I've seen lately:

(500) days of Summer, sweet romantic drama about an architect inlove, with lovely Zooey Dechanel - it got me with the soundtrack (The Smiths, Belle&Sebastian, Regina Spektor, Feist, Mumm-Ra, The Temper Trap,...)

The private lives of Pippa Lee, all star cast, simply entertaining and touching (is it?)..I love Robin Wright Penn

Stella-ella-ella-hey-hey

Wearing my Stella McCartney shirt designed for the Comic Relief campaign 09 on my birthday!
I remember walking for miles to get to TKMaxx only to find out they only did them in childrens sizes. So as far as I'm concerned, you're looking at a photo of a 14 year old.

Bordelle

Oooooooooh I went to our new, recently opened Agent Provocateur shop. Lovely, it is! So much I want to buy the shop in an Agent Provocateur shop shop. And so unbelievably expensive! 520€ for a corset with no lace or detail?! You have got to be kidding me, I can't afford that! Joseph Corré is definitely filling out his mum's shoes style-and-£-wise.
So, disappointed in abilities of my bank account, I went online to screen-shop and found Bordelle.

Size matters

In this months issue of V magazine dedicated to curves (out on January 14th), they're presenting Terry Richardson's 'One size fits all' fashion story with regular and + size models in the same outfits. The two girls, Jacquelyn Jablonski (size 2-4) and Crystal Renn (size 12) are wearing the exact same clothes in similar poses (you can certainly tell who was having more fun).
It also includes an all-plus-size-models photoshoot called 'Curves ahead' featuring Crystal, Candice Huffine, Tara Lynn and Michelle Olson, ''bombshells of  plus-size, proving that there's plenty of room in the fashion world for women who look like...women''.

In these days of 0-size craze it's good and comforting to see bigger women showing off their bodies with such confidence - as long as they look healthy, it's a good vibe and role-modeling (although I must say I find Richardson's photos much more appealing, I vote for size 12-14).
I remember a certain womens magazine, with two certain borderline obese female singers (both amazing at what they do, obviously) promoting shapes of their bodies, saying they feel happy and beautiful eating - you should accept and love your body as it is, but promoting such an unhealthy lifestyle? I can imagine an overweight american 14-year old, reading the magazine, stuffing herself with burgers and chips, going 'Oh, ok then'.
Oh and aren't we sick of magazines telling us to love our bodies on one page and telling us how to lose weight to look like Keira Knightley on the other?!

Anyway, there's been another issue dedicated to real natural beauty last year- Elle magazine put three goddesses, Monica Bellucci, Sophie Marceau and Eva Herzigova, on their covers without any make-up or retouching whatsoever. But before you get all jealous, remember that these are women who had facials for their breakfast and spa treatments for dinner for the last 20 years. Oh, and also Glamour magazine had a ''curvy plus-size'' issue with lovely naked models...

Anyway, if you're still not convinced and the V mag photos didn't boost your self-esteem, to shake your make-believe beauty standards, here's some photoshopped celebrities...(and we still love them, don't we? (except for Madonna, Mariah, Brintey and Kim - see? it's personality that matters, but that could be a whole new blogpost))
