Make-up rambling

Hello there. I haven't been posting frequently for the last 6 months or so due to piles of work and other stuff going on. As some of you know I recently started working as a professional make-up artist. It's one of the best decisions I have ever made, I can't think of anything else I'd rather be doing or doing it with greater feeling of devotion and satisfaction.

And make-up, or better, perception of beauty, is what I wanted to discuss in this post. I decided to share this thoughts with you after yet another client coming to me saying they're ugly and old, referring to wrinkles and lines. ''Make these disappear.''

Whatever I said, I couldn't make the lady see how beautiful she was. Yes, the skin a bit saggier and eyelids droopier, but amazingly good looking for her age, she must have been in her fifties (if she was 32 I take it all back). Another woman in her eighties said she used to be beautiful, but now shes wrinkled and unattractive. She had that loving grandmother look about her, and was utterly sweet and delicate.
We all get wrinkled as we age, it's the natural process, if anything they are reminders of wisdom and experience (in some cases only the latter) and you should be glad you have them - if you didn't it meant you didn't live long enough too get them.

One client came looking for a bright pearly purple jumbo eye-pencil she was about to run out of. She likes to apply it heavily under her lower eyelid. We know that's 'wrong' in more than one way - don't put purple on the under eye area if you have under eye circles or tired eyes, avoid putting pearly anything on mature face, and so on). I didn't have that exact product, so I offered to help her find something that might suit her needs - nothing would make me happier in that moment than wowing her by doing her make-up in the most flattering way- but she clearly wasn't there looking for advice or prepared to try anything else, so I didn't say anything more. After she has left, my mate popped out her eyes. We all thought the same thing, but the truth is, if she felt comfortable, confident and beautiful wearing that somewhat horrible shade, let her. After all that's the point of wearing any kind of make-up, so bless her.

The industry based on consumerism is washing our brains to unbelievable extent. Nobody needs make up (unless you're a TV presenter or a red-carpet regular), it's a matter of choice, an accessory that highlights your good looks. I'm not there to fix you, but to make you feel even more beautiful, if you let me.

So I'm thinking, intelligent foundation and a tongue-in-cheek attitude surely applies, combined with a loss of focus after one uplifting encounter followed by somewhat unreasonable measures. Nothing to do with increasing crave for distraction and fresh fashion kicks. Nevertheless, it portrays the collections well enough.

SRETAN VAM DAN MLADOSTI

Vegan coconut/banana/cocoa cookies

The best proven way to procrastinate:

You'll need:

200g of flour (I used a mixture of spelt, buckwheat and tapioca)

100g of coconut flour

a pinch of salt

half a sachet of baking powder

half a sachet of ground natural vanilla pod

6 tablespoons of stevia powder (or sugar)

2 tablespoons of cocoa powder

2 tablespoons of flax meal

2  bananas

1/2 cup of coconut oil, (I added a tablespoon of olive oil too)

walnuts (or chocolate chips)

more coconut flour!

A-B-C: Preheat oven to 180 degrees C ( 356 degrees F). Mix together dry ingredients, 

add wet ingredients (blend bananas and heat up coconut oil to melt it if needed),

add chocolate chips or nuts (or both), knead well, make little round balls, 

flatten them in coconut flour and place on wax paper. Bake for 20 minutes.


Congratulations, cancel your lunch plans, you've just ruined your appetite!

One-off one-piece

My complexion is a frequent target of sun's 'burned' jokes.
With that and my obsession with saving my skin from UVA/UVB sun rays in mind, 

I rarely sunbathe and pretty much stay out of the sun even when I go to the beach for a swim.
Not worrying about tan lines or a tanned stomach, I've been looking for a hot one-piece swimsuit
for two seasons now and the best high street shops can do, is a tacky cut-out in four different colours. 

So, before I settle for a bargain at H&M or Zara, I searched for some inspiration online.

If I had a no-fucks-given-budget, you'd see me sipping a cocktail by the beach (well, you wouldn't see me,
it being a highly secured private beach) in one of these:

I'm not actually serious about the Cynthia Rowley wetsuit, but it would definitely leave underwater animal kingdom in awe.

Unlikely winners

 Karolina Kurkova is the absolute winner of Met Gala, in that Rachel Zoe dress, 

a billion dollars' got nothing on her. I love Rihanna's Tom Ford, 

it's clean and gives the word crocs a chance for a fresh start. 

Can't remember the name of the 3rd gurl, but I like the simplicity of her outfit. Aw!

 Ok, let me explain. Florence, because she giggled on the red carpet and she doesn't GAF. 

Kirsten Dunst, because she reminds me so much of my grandmother in this

and yes, my gran used to be a primary school teacher in 1950s and on. 

And whatever SJP is wearing, because I'd love to wear it at home and pretend I'm a princess. 

Would probably change to tracksuit to go out though.

Diane Kruger, because I don't think anyone else can pull this off without everyone thinking 'pregnant'. 

Lea Michele looks like an Olympic swimmer, but I love her and she's wearing my favourite colour. 

And sweet Emma Stone, because I like strawberries and I like Emma Stone.

There were a lot of wonderful sparkly outfits, a lot of safe choices
and even more of massive fashion fails at this years MG. 

Whatever happened to Jessica Biel's hemline, ugh. 

Still, my biggest disappointment was her gorgeousness Alexa.
